My Own Happy Ending

I wish I could read you
like I read my books
understand exactly what lies
between the lines.

i wish i could understand you
like i understand music
it's the gateway to my soul
always knowing the words i need to hear

I wish we could play out like a movie
predictable
and happy endings
easy to deal with
we could always rewrite the ending


But for some crazy reason
you aren't like a book
you don't know me like my music
and we aren't predictable
but it's still beautiful
the way i look into your eyes
and know what you are thinking
and when you say the words

that's exactly what I need to hear.
